Sometimes, it feels like you’ve got 10 good hours in a day to get 15 hours worth of work done. So how do you get it all done; the client calls, the grocery shopping, walking the dog, answering emails and still find time to enjoy a glass of pinot at the end of the day with your loved one?

For entrepreneurs it is easy to get overwhelmed. The fact is, when you are your own boss, you are responsible for your own deadlines and making sure you prioritize accordingly. If you’re ever feeling guilty or shameful about not checking off everything on the to-do list, take a step back and remember, it will all be okay. I’ve learned how to get past overwhelm and I want to share with you how you can too.

To survive, you must be a master of productivity.

I’ve got a few other tips to keep you productive as well.

1. Keep a list! Make sure it’s in a real, physical notebook as opposed to being on your Write down every little thing you need to complete that day, no matter how big or small. Then, get to work on crossing those things off your list. Don’t stop until everything you absolutely need that day is complete. It’s ok to drop the ball sometimes- but make sure it’s a ball that bounces back!

2. Get organized! Stop for a moment and determine your next steps, targets, and goals. The first thing in the morning is the best way to do this. Make sure you have everything you need to get the job done at your disposal. Try to remain on one task at a time. When you brush up your organizational skills, you’ll see that less obstacles tend to pop up throughout the day.

3. Switch it up! If you’re having trouble getting things done, there’s either something wrong in your process or you’re not being supported in the way you should be. Try something different. Weather that means leaving your usual working space going somewhere else or hiring a virtual assistant to help you for a few hours a week, changing your process keeps things fresh and helps you focus.

So go ahead, go out to that new coffee shop everyone’s been talking about, bring your notebook, and get to work with purpose. The question isn’t how to get through the paralyzing feeling of overwhelm, but to overcome it more quickly and get back on track. So hurry, your clients are waiting!
